Pembrokeshire Supported Employment Programme is a supported business. It employs over 70 people with a disability. People work between 4 and 37 hours a week.
Pembrokeshire Supported Employment Programme works with people with a wide range of disabilities:
• Learning disabilities.
• Autism.
• Mental ill health.
• Physical and sensory disabilities.
• Substance misuse.
• Work limiting health conditions such as epilepsy, cancer and arthritis.
Pembrokeshire Supported Employment Programme helps work-based settings such as our factory, craft workshop, station shop, sawmill and cafés.
Norman Industries
Norman Industries is our supported factory. We make lots of different wooden products and help people learn carpentry skills.
The factory provides:
work experience
accredited training
supported employment
Woodworking skills in building, maintenance and care-taking handyman roles.
Skills learnt include:
• Hand tool maintenance
• Use of electrical tools
• Product construction
• Finishing – To put together a product and decorate to a high standard.
Norman Industries has traded more than 40 years (1977-2017).
Norman Industries has a partnership with Scolton Manor. It does carpentry projects and tasks such as grass cutting, strimming and work in the woodlands.

The Station Shop
Station Shop
Our station shop focus on money handing, preparing local produce and customer service
The sawmill focus on developing skills in a range of areas including moving and handling logs, using the sawmill, using the log splitter and delivering the logs to the customers.
Skills learnt include:
• Use of machinery safely
• Use of lifting equipment

Grounds Maintenance
The grounds maintenance focus on developing skills in a range of areas including mowing, strimming, weeding, hedge trimming, border maintenance and planting.
Skills learnt include:
• Use of garden tools safely
• Use of electrical/petrol garden machinery
• Recognising weeds

Training and Crafts
Accredited Training
Accreditation is offered in a range of topics linked to areas of work offered. Training is provided at Entry, Level 1 and Level 2 depending on need and capability.
Training sessions in groups and one to one.
Norman Industries is a member of the British Association of Supported Employment (BASE).
Support for employment is provided by the Work Choice programme.
Pembrokeshire County Council is a Disability Confident Leader.
The Disability Confident scheme is run by DWP to identify employers who employ, support and promote disabled people in the work place.
Training is provided with Pembrokeshire College and Learning Pembrokeshire. People can get a qualification in a range of subjects include:

The Training Workshop focus on developing skills in a range of areas including pyrography, simple carpentry which includes hand tools and working safely.
Skills learnt include:
• to be independent
• Use of different equipment safely

Creating designs which can be sold in the shops
Crafts
The crafts focus on developing skills in a range of areas including pyrography, sewing, glass painting, card making, screen printing and upcycling materials to create new designs.

Pembrokeshire Repair Café
Pembrokeshire Repair Café
Pembrokeshire Repair Café welcomes customers every second Thursday of the month in the Green Barn in Scolton Manor.
The café have people that sews homeware, mends clothes and fixes mechanical machinery/electronic equipment. The aim of the café is to fix whatever is presented to them – unless it is a major renovation job. If the parts of an object are needed the people tells the visitor to order the parts and come back. Some of the repairs may need to be taken away to be mended and will be returned to the customer after the object is mended. All the repairs are free.
We Can is a continued education project which aims to support young adults with learning disabilities and difficulties and/or autism during the transitional stages of their lives.

Learning new independent living skills
Borrow-a-Bike
Borrow-a-Bike
Borrow-a-Bike is run from outside our Station Shop at Scolton Manor.
We have a range of bikes which have ben donated to us which you can hire out for a small charge and explore the wonderful grounds at Scolton Manor.
Our supported staff member Jonathan makes sure the are clean and in good working order before they are hired out.
We also have a small range of disability bikes which are also available to hire.

Support is funded from a grant from Access to Work.
Work Based Day Service
This supports people with higher levels of disability to engage in work-based activities.
This helps to increase their skills, build confidence and independence and get them ready for work.
Norma the Therapy Dog
Norma joined us in November 2022 to be our therapy dog. Currently she is getting used to new people and help people overcome stress and anxiety. Norma enjoys visiting everyone in the office for treats, hugs and belly-rubs. She makes everyone smile and hopefully can have more training soon.
