The Torch Theatre are showing the Movies & Memories screenings designed to suit the needs for elderly people living with dementia and memory loss with their family, friends and carers. Hearing loops or hearing aids and headphones are available.

On Thursday 11th January 2024 the Movies & Memories is showing a Paramount musical “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” at 2:00pm. 

On Thursday 16th February 2023 the Movies & Memories is showing a United Artists [UA] musical “West Side Story” (1961) at 1:30pm.

On Thursday 21st March 2024 the Movies & Memories is re-showing a 20th Century Fox [20th Century Studios] musical “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I” (1956) at 1:30pm.

On Thursday 18th April 2024 the Movies & Memories is re-showing a Warner Bros. musical “Calamity Jane” at 2:00pm.

On Thursday 16th May 2024 the Movies & Memories is showing a Paramount romantic comedy-drama “The Quiet Man” at 1:30pm.

On Thursday 20th June 2024 the Movies & Memories is showing a Universal musical “Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again” at 1:30pm.

On Thursday 18th July 2024 the Movies & Memories is showing a Rank Organisation comedy “Carry On Camping” at 2:00pm.

On Thursday 19th September 2024 the Movies & Memories is re-showing a Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) musical “Singin in the Rain” at 2:00pm.

On Thursday 24th October 2024 the Movies & Memories is showing a Paramount musical romantic comedy “Funny Face” (1957)

The screenings will be set in a relaxed environment with lights stayed on and the sound is turned down with a special offer of tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes. Patrons can sing along to songs in musical numbers. There are no trailers and adverts. Patrons are free to move about during the screenings.

Please note there is a short interval during the screening with ice cream available to buy.

The trained staff at The Torch will also be on hand to give the elderly a very warm welcome.
