Theatr Gwaun Dementia Friendly Cinema Screenings
.Theatr Gwuan in Fishguard is showing a dementria friendly screenings designed for people living with dementia.
This is a subtly-adapted, relaxed screenings designed for people with a range of conditions such as dementia, autism, learning disabilities/disabilities etc, their friends, family and carers.
This shows differences compared to a cinema trip:
- Theatre lighting will be left on low
- Lower film volume
- Hearing Loop and headphones are available
- There will be a comfort break interval during the screening
- Free Tea/Coffee and a slice of cake or biscuits
- No trailers, no adverts
- The audience are free to move about during the screening
- Patrons can sing along to songs in musical numbers
Volunteers trained by the Alzheimer’s Society will be on hand to help the audience settle in and throughout the performance.
On Tuesday 22nd May 2018 at 4:30pm Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard is showing its first dementia-friendly screening of “Singin’ in the Rain”.
On Tuesday 31st July 2018 at 3:00pm Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard is showing a dementia-friendly screening of “Calamity Jane”.
On Thursday 5th September 2019 and Thursday 26th September 2019 at 1:30pm Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard is showing a dementia-friendly screening of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”.
On Thursday 30th January “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel” at 1:30pm
On Thursday 27th February “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific” at 1:30pm
On Thursday 26th March “Easter Parade” at 1:30pm
